Gameschooling with the Game Schooler Podcast
Every week on the Game Schooler Podcast, Doug and Michael talk about playing games with kids, with an educational bent.
There are a lot of skills in board gaming that are difficult to teach and assess in traditional subjects.
Games are educational even when they’re not branded as “educational games”! They teach risk management, decision making, etc.
They’ve developed a set of “core skills” that they use to evaluate every game they feature on the podcast.
Playing games lets us really see how our kids are growing!
The Game Schoolers created skill builders and discussion guides to help parents, teachers, and game club leaders connect board games to topics kids are learning.
Every week, the Game Schooler Podcast talks about what they’ve been playing, “the school of gaming”, a recommended game (calling out appropriate skills), and a “High Five” list.
We hope that game schooling will evolve greatly over the next decade and be a better tool for parents and kids.
Doug & Michael are working on a game schooling book that they hope to have available by 2023.
