222 – 2020 Holiday Game Gift Guide – The Family Gamers Podcast
We’ll give you the run down for this year’s recommendations in our holiday gift guide.
Number fact! 222 is a “strobogrammatic number” (at least on an old-school calculator). This means it has rotational symmetry (it forms the same number when turned upside down).
You know that feeling of wanting to finish a movie just because you paid for it, or when you think you “may as well finish” a too long game where everyone is miserable? That’s call the sunk cost fallacy. If you need a sounding board for your life’s financial decisions go to firstmovefinancial.com/familygamers and set up a time to talk to First Move Financial.
What We’ve Been Playing
Codenames Harry Potter (The OP) – best for superfans of the Harry Potter series.
Tussie Mussie (Button Shy)
Unmatched: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Restoration Games)
EXIT: The Enchanted Forest (KOSMOS) – listen to the SNAP review later in the show.
Kingswood (25th Century Games)
PARKS (Keymaster Games)
Starlink (Blue Orange Games)
Harry Potter: House Cup Competition (The OP) – the opposite of Codenames HP. This is a “gamer” game, but you don’t need to know anything about HP to enjoy it.
Yacht Rock (Funko Games) – a very laid back game.
Wingspan (Stonemaier Games) – we suggest reducing the points per egg at the end of the game (1 point per 2 eggs). It made the game a lot closer and the decisions more interesting near the end of the game.
The holiday season is shaping up to be good for time to play games this year. Games-mas? Thanks-gaming? Winter-een-mas? We’re here for it!
SNAP Review – EXIT: The Enchanted Forest
Can you find a way to cross the river and escape the enchanted forest? We tell you about this family-friendly EXIT box with no spoilers.
